
Allison Emerick
Allison Emerick is the principal flutist of the Boise Philharmonic. Praised by the South
Florida Review for her “rich tone and evocative playing,” Allison also frequently appears
with the Utah Symphony and Las Vegas Philharmonic. In her role as principal flutist of
the Boise Phil, she performs regularly with the Boise Phil Woodwind Quintet and in the
Boise Phil chamber series.
Allison is proud to have served as a musician representative on the organizing
committee of the Boise Phil, securing union recognition and representation by the
American Federation of Musicians in 2019. She was a member of the negotiation
committee and bargained the organization’s first Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Allison later became a founding board member of the Greater Idaho Musicians’
Association, Local 423.
In her summers, Allison performs with the Grand Teton Music Festival and Ballet Sun
Valley. She previously held the Piccolo Fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and
School and was a winner of the National Flute Association Master Class Competition. A
dedicated teacher, Allison is the flute instructor at Northwest Nazarene University,
coaches the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestras, and maintains a private studio in
Boise. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Colorado at
Boulder, where she studied with Christina Jennings. Allison continued her studies at
Carnegie Mellon University, completing her Master of Music degree as a student of
Jeanne Baxtresser. She is also thankful to Alberto Almarza, Mark Sparks, Nadine Asin,
and Jennifer Keeney for their instruction and mentorship.
