Competitions

The Capital City Flute Club is proud to offer solo competitions for flute students at three levels:

• Junior High Solo Competition (New this year!)

• High School Solo Competition

• Collegiate Solo Competition

Our competitions give developing flutists an opportunity to prepare challenging repertoire, receive recognition for their musicianship, and perform for the flute community. Winners of each solo competition will receive a cash prize.

Competition Format

The competition consists of two rounds.

Round One: Recorded Submission

Participants will submit a recording of the required repertoire for their competition division. Recorded submissions must be received by midnight on December 15, 2026.

​

Finalists selected from the recorded round will be invited to advance to the live competition.

Final Round: Live Performance

​

Selected finalists will be invited to perform live at the Capital City Flute Club Recital on February 27, 2027.

Participants selected for the live round must notify the Competition Chair of their intent to perform no later than midnight on February 1, 2027. Failure to confirm participation by this deadline will result in disqualification from the competition.

Piano Accompaniment

​

If the required competition repertoire includes piano accompaniment, participants must perform with piano accompaniment for the competition, including the recorded and live rounds as applicable. Participants are responsible for making the necessary accompaniment arrangements.

The registration form includes an acknowledgment of this requirement.

Registration

​

A $25 registration fee is due at the time the registration form is submitted.

Participants should carefully review the registration form and competition materials for all important dates, deadlines, and requirements, including:

​

• The competition registration deadline

• The December 15, 2026 deadline for Round One recorded submissions

• The February 1, 2027 deadline for finalists to confirm their participation in the live round

• The February 27, 2027 live competition

• Any additional requirements specific to their competition division

Please review all competition requirements before registering. By submitting the registration form, participants acknowledge the competition deadlines, accompaniment requirements, registration fee, and their responsibility to be available for the live competition if selected as a finalist.
